If youre a Black Male in a suburban community and you knock on your neighbors door to formally introduce yourself, they just might call the police... Thats a Fact, it happened to my son this year. He not only was approached by the police but it made the local paper Suspicious African American Male knocked on the door in the neighborhood and introduced himself, police were called to the scene. the male stated that he wanted to introduce himself to the neighbors as he lived near them and wanted them to know who he was. Another neighbor brought this to my attention and asked if I had heard about it. My son thought nothing of it stating I think the Officer must have been in the area and someone called... Seriously my son has been living in mostly White areas for the bulk of his life and he still doesnt get that he doesnt have the Privilege to introduce himself to the neighbors. My husband said he was wrong for introducing himself, I said it was the right thing to do. The newer neighbors introduced themselves to us and it seemed harmless. #NowIHaveToGoLookForThatPaper #SharingOurExperience
