Illinois Jaycees, I have been honored to serve as your 83rd Illinois Jaycees President and today Im experiencing another level of Illinois Jaycee Pride. I just received this email from Chris Helfrich Director, Nothing But Nets for the United Nations Foundation: Dear Anthony, I’m reaching out to share some exciting news with you: because of your amazing support and commitment to the fight against malaria, you have been selected by the leaders of JCI USA to become a Champion for Nothing But Nets! As you may know, one aspect of the partnership between JCI USA and Nothing But Nets is to identify outstanding supporters—called Champions—to help strengthen the efforts of Nothing But Nets to fight malaria in sub-Saharan Africa by taking leadership action within their communities. This year, Nothing But Nets will be launching our first-ever “Champions Council”, and we are inviting you to become a member of the inaugural class! And there’s more: Nothing But Nets will launch the Champions Council at our annual summit in Washington, DC on September 28-29, and we want you to join us! The Champions Council is an exclusive group of top Nothing But Nets supporters from all walks of life – students to CEOs, bishops to NBA all-stars – who are leading the fight against malaria in their communities. Through the Champions Council, our goal is to unite Nothing But Nets supporters, equip them with tools and trainings to help strengthen their efforts, and honor their achievements in sending nets and saving lives. By attending the Champion Summit, you will have the opportunity to: · Hear directly from experts at the UN and other major global organizations working to fight disease and poverty · Network and participate in professional development workshops with leaders in the fields of global health, development and advocacy · Attend an advocacy day on Capitol Hill, through which you will educate and engage your members of Congress on the need for strong U.S. leadership in the fight against malaria The movement to defeat malaria is powered by you – I sincerely hope you will join us in DC this September and participate in the launch of our Champions Council. Illinois Jaycees this opportunity would have never happen without all of your support to the Nothing But Nets Campaign over the past several years here in Illinois. I want to give special thanks to The United States Junior Chamber, National President Fay Poissant and Past President Chrystal Ramsay-Dyess for nominating me for this honor. I also want to give a special thanks to our Program Development Vice President Sean Mullen and Program Manager Steve Peterson for their Passion to assist us in raising over $25,000 so far this year for Nothing But Nets!!!
