Im President of the Board for the Humane Society for Hamilton - TopicsExpress

Im President of the Board for the Humane Society for Hamilton County (Indiana). We have a $1.7 million budget and have never received one dime from HSUS. We have a 95% live out rate, have over 3300 animals come through our doors a year and at any given time have about 400 animals under our care. Less than 30% of our budget comes from our animal control contracts. The rest is all through donations and fundraising. We are just like your local Humane Societies and SPCAs. We all rely on local donations from our supporters. If you give to the HSUS or ASPCA you are giving to organizations whose best accomplishments are lobbying our elected officials. Not to mention paying their executives huge amounts of money. Last figure I saw was Wayne Parcells of HSUS had over $350000 a year in compensation. Give locally if you want your money to go to animal care. Bottom line. Rant over.
