Im a guy who takes some heat for being outspoken on issues so I typically dont make my feelings or opinions public on issues anymore. BUT I feel compelled to share my thoughts on some tornado relief efforts. While most people are truly trying to help victims of the horrific storms, others are manipulating or not being completely forth coming with how theyre helping the victims. I encourage you to only give money to organizations with a tract record or nonprofits with a history of being upfront an honest with where your money is going. Events, downloads or any other form of fundraising that does not explicitly say All Proceeds will typically mean that all your money isnt going to the cause and usually a large percentage goes into someones pocket. I frown against anyone exploiting folks who have lost it all for their own personal gain. I will be announcing efforts to help in several ways but I dont want extra exposure, financial gain, pat on the back or a parade for any of those efforts. In closing, I will announce these things when I feel like the need can be met from my end and when folks start forgetting the long term effort it will take to help folks. I will help remind and hopefully make some sort of strong donation on behalf of those who participate for the folks in need. If it doesnt say All proceeds then I say pass and mail a check to the American Red Cross. They help everyone. If this post offends you. You know what you can do :)
