Im a little late with my thoughts here since its taking me a longer than usual to ease into the real world. This was my 5th burn, and Ive observed that Burning Man is different every year, for better and for worse. This was by far the most challenging burn for me since it had been a tough couple weeks in my personal life going into it, which was compounded by my falling off a see-saw and hurting my back on Monday (for those of you at my 10 hour set w/ Slee on Panda Lounge Saturday night you probably saw me doing my yoga stretches every hour in the DJ booth - I was hurting!!) Running around the desert for a week, setting up+tearing down our camp, DJing 7 sets, and sleeping outside on a couch (I never got a hang of the whole tent thing), then heading back to work on Tuesday...all while experiencing a significant amount of pain has definitely taken its toll on me...In a few words, Im beat. But at the same time, so many great things happened. I got a lot of quality hang time with my friends which I dont get much of in the real world, I got to play a bunch of sets for some wonderful camps (most of which I think went pretty well), and most importantly, I got to connect with so many positive people both on and off the dance floor and make new friends. I started DJing purely because I love the music, but as things have progressed for me, its now so much more than that: its as much about the people as it is the music...So despite this being a really tough year for me, the one thing that made it really easy to keep going and stay energized was the people (you guys) - so much positivity and love from all over the world which eventually hit me and brought me to tears during my Saturday morning sunrise set at the Panda Lounge. That never happens. So thank you all for making this difficult burn still a wonderful one. Looking forward to seeing what unexpected twists and turns burn 2015 has in store...
