Im a third generation sheep shearer. This is bs. Ranchers depend on these animals for their income. Anybody that treated their investment that way would be run off the ranch. Yes sometimes a sheep gets cut, veins you have to sew. The surface veins feeding the udder are the worst. I would get one every year or two. 2 to6 stitches and the vein reroutes itself. Half my work was shearing ewes just before they lambed because it IMPROVED overall survival. This was staged.
