Im about to get SUPER nerd all over you guys, bare with me :) I study sea urchins (specifically Diadema antillarum) in my marine biology class and I was poking along the lines of this idea for the last 2 years... so Yeah... I CALLED IT MUAHAHAHAHA!!!! *so much excitement right now!!!!* The study detected the virus on particles suspended in seawater, as well as in sediment, and showed that it is harbored in animals related to sea stars, such as sea urchins and brittle stars.
