Im ba-ack! Just a quick note to let you all know that 24 hours after taking off from Maui I touched down in Siem Reap! I made it safe and sound back to my little place here across from the Sunny Angkor Hotel. The neighborhood is quiet and the house is in one piece! Lots of memories of a fantastic family reunion to celebrate 2 milestone birthdays (Matthew Johnsons 40th and my 70th) as well as a chance for the 4 of us at my sibling level to get together with my grandkids and their parents! During our birthday celebration dinner we did a video call with Benjamin Johnson. He had worked a flight to Honolulu but timing wasnt good for a trip over to Kona. But at least he was close and we all had a chance to talk with him! This afternoon at Shanghai Airport I arrived from Honolulu and met up with the group coming from Sasebo for Thanksgiving dinner and temple time! Linda Williams, Mary Tyler and Edwards Cathy Edwards joined me at the ticket counter as we checked in 4 boxes of AquaPaks. After a very uneventful flight - other than being interrupted every 30 minutes to announce turbulence - folks in the bathroom hold on! and only witnessing a few mild shakes, actually milder than the bouncing a plane does during takeoff - we arrived in Siem Reap. Kristin Priddis and Gloria Dahlquist came in a bit later via Seoul. Tomorrow will be local tours - Ive hired 4 tuk tuks for the occasion! Stop at my house and some local markets. We are joining Jill and Bill Morse for Traditional Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow night. Then Friday and Saturday will be some serious temple time. Most of the folks will be flying back Saturday night Red-Eye to get to Japan to work on Monday (Ugh! I remember doing that that) The great thing is that we will have one of the finest guides in Cambodia - Sopharath Phin! Now Im hoping that my newest hobby, killing time in airports around the world, wont be practiced for at least a few months! Next week I will be really jumping into advancing the AquaPaks plan. Hao Tang, the supplier/developer just outside of Shanghai, had the instruction cover translated into Khmer! I had my boys check it out for errors and they said the translation was perfect! Too bad the folks wont be around to go to an RSVP school site visit nor an AquaPaks demo/distribution! Just have to plan longer vacations, thats all! But, as you can figure, I WILL be posting updates and photos as the adventure continues!
