Im building a new mantis shrimp burrow for my G. Ternatensis. PVC burrows are a preferred choice for the home aquarium, but bare PVC is ugly and looks out of place. This is a simplified form the PVC burrow that I built for my peacock mantis. She loves her burrow and seems quite happy and comfortable with it. I wanted to see if I could fully coat the pipe using only silicone and aragonite substrate and leave out the more messy epoxy that I used in my last one. Pre-made burrows are an important thing to provide for your mantis shrimp. It instantly gives them a secure place to call home and mimics the type of cavity they would occupy in the wild. I believe a good burrow will lead to a more interactive and happy mantis shrimp in the home aquarium.
