Im engrossed, so far deep down into a thought of you, walking through town center--its a warm sunny beautiful day--but thinking of you more than looking ahead, so much so that I dont even notice till Ive almost already passed her--your sweet niece in her well-loved Vans, the kind you loved too, and she was saying how much they all are loving your clothes now, wearing out your flannels, and I know how much youd love that. See when I was thinking of you so hard that I almost missed her, I was trying to write a poem in my heart for you today, walking with a quick pace, and it started how Id never say Rest in Peace, because thats for people who are tired or used up and you are strong and adventurous and I know in Heaven, youre not resting but dancing and skateboarding and climbing really tall mountains and maybe youve started following on tour with bands of musical angels--and maybe God lets you visit here too sometimes, because sometimes its true that a tear rolls down my cheek and the room seems suddenly warmer and brighter and I know youre there. I visit our old overpriced apartments by the power lines and just sit outside your unit in the car, and I know youd get a kick if you could see--your upstairs unit with the patio decked out by the new people with a bunch of plants on the railing like a big dream, just like yours was. You were here, and I miss you
