Im excited. We fly to Denver tomorrow. Time to get my mind wrapped around finishing The Leadville Trail 100 on Aug. 16. I really hope I am ready. When I attempted this race in 2012 I was definitely not. I was less than 2 years removed from my traumatic brain injury. To say I was foggy, is an understatement. I recall not really understanding what I was attempting to undertake. I suppose making it to mile 50 before calling it a day was an accomplishment, considering my state. This year I am more aware of what I am trying to do and I am better prepared. Although I am still not nearly the runner that I was before the accident, my training this year has included running 1900 miles so far, a few marathons (No PR, but I did Boston Qualify again), I placed in a 50k trail race and won my age group in a 50 mile road race. Overall, I have regained some running form and lost most of the post-accident weight that I put on (35 lbs - YIKES! - getting old sux). So, less than two weeks out, this is the state of Dick Dime. I am thrilled that my blonde hottie, Mimi Reeves is running too. She will finish - I hope to as well. I believe the race motto: I am better than I think I am and I can do more than I think I can. We will be bouncing around Denver and Aspen for the next few weeks. I hope to see lots of my friends; desperately seeking Nico Berlin. BTW we both still need a few pacers confirmed.
