Im flying to London tomorrow. There is an enigma I continue to cling to, in this mysterious city of beautiful books. Resplendent bookstores & colourful, old bookshops wait like exhibitions. I shall go to visit a friendly Arabic bookseller & he will ask the classic questions... Maam, have you learnt your Arabic yet, maam have you read all your books yet? Then there is a Moroccan cafe whose owners I know. And they have strange, eccentric characters, like a storybook in the wings, waiting to be composed. I shall fish out my secret notebook. The superb international literature at Daunt Books will also help keep my pulse on the magic. I live the kinder version of Alice in Wonderland.
