Im getting old.... and this is too. Texas now has its own Vietnam Veteran Monument.... dedicated over the weekend. Perfectly reviewed and edited to include all the ethic types and the mail clerks and truck drivers and OMG where are the USO Donut Dollies???? Golf clap. Ya know guys, how bout we quit pestering people about monuments, cocktail napkins, welcome home parades, key chains, Fortunate Son and Death before Cialis tattoos? I contributed in the early 80s to The Wall simply because nobody want us to have a monument... especially to the dead. I helped raise $20 mil for the Colorado Veterans Memorial because we discovered there had been no state monument to Coloradoans who had served and died in Americas conflicts since the Spanish American War. In each case we had to scrape, beg, borrow, and steal everything we could for these permanent remembrances; had we veterans not done so, there would be no statues, memorials, monuments, blah, etc. Some of my fellow veterans annoy me because they dont get it.... no one (in numbers that matter) gives a damn about our serving and dying... so get over it. Stop building structures and instead raise money for veterans advocacy and law suits against the VA and the federal government. It takes a year to get a claim through the VA for a double amputee.... and your response is, Look at this granite tablet were building? Bulls**t. I dont want your welcome home, your speeches and your thanks for your service; I could have used a pat on the back when I was 21 in the Navy Hospital in Long Beach, but its hardly necessary now. Leave me alone. You wanna put on an effing parade, then you march in it. I aint marchin no more.
