Im going to put this here for discussion and debate...Im really not sure what to make of it. I work in a female dominated industry (tax preparation). Most tax prepares are middle aged, married women (I say this for background for those outside of the US). While at the pre-season meeting the ACA tax penalty came up (its going to be a major thing this year and we all have to be trained on it) and one of the points of discussion was reasons that people can not have insurance yet not have to pay the penalty. One of the reasons turns out to be if you are the victim of domestic violence. Apparently all that is needed is a police report saying that your partner attacked you (charges dont even have to be filed) and you can avoid the penalty for life. As soon as that came out a large and enthusiastic discussion started among the women about how it might be a good idea for them to convince their husbands to slap them around a bit one night. Their reasoning was 18 hours in jail is better than having to pay that penalty. I kept my mouth shut (as did the two other men in the room) but I honestly have not clue what to make of that. I would love to hear opinions from the men and women here.
