Im in the process of turning several of my horror and suspense - TopicsExpress

Im in the process of turning several of my horror and suspense short stories into 15-to-18 page screenplays. A couple of them were already done, but I had to rewrite them in a spec format, which is a lot different from whats described in a How to Write a Screenplay book. Leave out the camera angles, even if youre only using Another Angle or A Different Angle. No one wants to see them in an initial script. Ive had to learn the hard way about what a spec script should look like, but thats part of the process. The thing is I enjoy this. When Im working on my stories, Im also living them inside my mind. Thats part of the fun in writing. It certainly presents a greater pleasure to me than my 9-to-5 job. I was telling the Assistant General Manager of the hotel where I work about my present plans. He smiled and chuckled to himself, shaking his head. He finally said, You sure dream big, Wayne. I said, Whats the point of dreaming if its not going to be about something big? He nodded in agreement and then told me to keep on dreaming. I told him that he sounded like Robert Redford in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Well, maybe my dreams will come true and maybe they wont, but it wont be from a lack of effort on my part. Last weekend I rewrote the 15-page script thats a sequel to my published short story, A Step in the Shadows. Since I was unable to convert it to a PDF file because of glitch in the system, I created another Final Draft film document and rewrote the screenplay in it, changing and polishing some things as I went along. This week Im going to finish a script thats based on my short story, The Pit. This is going to be the scariest thing Ive ever written. Ive already got seven pages done, and Ive made a ton of changes in the storyline. So, as it stands now, Ive got finished scripts of A Step in the Shadows, Dark Night of the Soul, The Countess, The Terror, Trick or Treat, and then finally The Pit this weekend. After that I want to rewrite my two feature-length scripts in spec format, which will occupy my time for the next four months or so. Dream big is my motto. Without dreams, life isnt worth living. At least for me it isnt. This is the only thing that keeps me going.
