Im kind of upset that the original message of the girl who was assaulted at Aki-Con has been lost. I am a hound dog in search of information so Ive messaged several people asking about that mysteriously private video and someone sent me a screen cap of the girl and her statement about that video. She is not targeting Aki-Con. She isnt even targeting her attacker. She is targeting every girl who goes off alone at a Con. She wanted everyone to hear her story and see her message not to spark hate and have people turn away from a Con. She wanted to make people remember that you need to stay safe. You need to practice safe behavior. That DJ is a man who lives up to the name Malice because thats all he has incited and his actions are NOT forgivable. Please in all your anger towards him do not forget her message. She doesnt want people to hate the con because of what happened she wants people to be AWARE. The victim is not to blame. The situation is not to blame. The circumstances leading to the situation are also not to blame, the man who did it is to blame. But we mustnt forget- That is not her message. That is us wanting to know every little detail so we can feel righteous in our anger. Im going to continue my support for AkiCon. Yeah theyve made bad choices but EVERY con has. The vendors hall for last year was awful, so they improved it. This year is was cramped and some things didnt go as well as planned but it wasnt a leaky parking garage where people lost their merch. They are already planning to correct that mistake next year. Dont forget that guests and participants are brought to AkiCons attention by being suggested or asked to attend and that DJ Malice has been a DJ at several Cons so dont hate one con unless youre going to accuse them all. Yakumei, KuroNeko, and AkiCon all had him there in one day or another as one thing or another so dont forget that this is not something that could have been isolated to just Aki. DJ Malice could have picked up a victim at KuroNeko. He could have been an attendee and still picked up a victim and taken them back to his hotel room. He could still do those actions. What will prevent those incidences from happening is whether or not WE take action and be AWARE. We need to practice safe behavior and that is what this poor girl is trying to tell us. She wants us to learn from this! Not just blog her now privatized video link to incite anger and hate towards a con and a rapist. Learn from this dont just click like/reblog/share. Take action to protect yourself because this can happen outside of cons and with someone you think you know as well.
