Im looking for some advice. I work from home so my Ludwig (who is 15 months old) is with me most days. For a few months Ive been taking him to daycare a couple of days a week. He loves to go but there is a problem - the daycare has very nicely expressed that while he is really well socialized and friendly, he barks too much. I believe them, as Ludwig does have a loud and insistent bark. He barks when he is with other dogs at the park or wherever, and yes, it is loud, but it seems to mostly stem from excitement or trying to direct other dogs to play in a certain way. The business adjacent to the daycare has allegedly complained (generally) about the barking and the solution so far has to remove him and crate him for time-outs. Im fine with that; we do it at home. (Though it does mean he comes home with too much energy - precisely the opposite of why he goes). But they say he isnt getting that if he quits barking he can stay and play. They are recommending a low-voltage shock collar. I will not use a shock collar - are there any other techniques that may work? While I am often frustrated with Ludwigs barking, I do find it a bit absurd that a doggy daycare has a problem with dogs barking!
