Im nervous and excited to post this! Its a little long, stick with me. Im not one to fish for free stuff through blogging. Ive been so lucky to get a few freebies (a trip away to Canberra, some movie tickets, makeup (most of which I gave away), meals and theatre tickets). But on the whole, I blog for the love of writing. So next week is the 100 Women of Influence award gala event in Sydney. I wanted a beautiful new dress for the event, and I wondered if if would be possible to be dressed by my favourite brand. And so I asked some friends who work regularly with brands for advice (thank you!). And I pitched. I pitched to CUE. I told them about my award, my blog and social media following, my work around appearance diversity and how Cue is truly my favourite label - Ive got many of their dresses. One other thing I told them was For me, Cue signifies influence, style and uniqueness - three qualities that I am known for. Time is running out to get a dress. And I hadnt heard back from Cue more than a week after emailing them. Of course, I could have gone with one sparkly number that I already have. But my work friends convinced me this event was second to my wedding and I needed a new dress. So on Monday, my friend and I went to Cue to buy my dream dress. I love it and have thought of all sorts of accessories to wear with it. Yesterday, Cues marketing manager emailed me, congratulating me and telling me the brand will give a media discount on an outfit from Cue for the event!! I called her back, thanking her and said Ive already bought that amazing dress. She organised for me to get some of the cost reimbursed from the store - which the store assistant did happily today! I am so grateful to Cue for believing in me and my work, and for this amazing offer! And Im so glad I took the plunge and pitched! (Ive just heard Im a finalist in another award and so I will wear this dress to that ceremony too!)
