Im not a brick, a bogus friend, or a closet racist. I was on the side of Mike Brown. One night I took my broke ass and went out and bought 60 White Castle for the protesters in front of the police station. This is where I grew up, and where I still live. What I am is an independent thinker who looks at facts and disseminates information as it comes, and if that means my opinion was wrong before, I change it. I dont allow my personal emotions to make me blind to the facts of a situation. Does this kind of stuff happen? YES. Did it in this case? Not a single one of us knows yet. But its not looking good. And you know what? That makes me so damned angry I cant see straight. I want all of this pain and anger and destruction of my community to mean something besides a chance for the lowest element to take advantage of the situation and the world gawking at our open wounds. All of the violence and looting and vandalism takes away from the real message that things must change between the police and the community. But thats getting lost in trying to force this to fit the mold of the police gunning down an innocent kid. This is bigger than Mike Brown. This could really change the future, but not if it comes out that it was justified, yet the focus status on Mike Brown.
