Im not advocating for or against Obamacare and REALLY dont want to - TopicsExpress

Im not advocating for or against Obamacare and REALLY dont want to get into a political back and forth with anyone about it. Im too sick to argue. However, I just want to make a statement about insurance. Ive seen a lot of people commenting their insurance went up because of Obamacare. For the record, as a government employee (state, not federal), I have state insurance. We have several choices with our insurance plan that pay at varying levels. Because both I and my husband have a lot of health issues, I have to take out the premium plan that is offered. My health insurance has increased every year for the last 12 years - LONG before Obamacare was even thought about. I currently pay $600 per month for my family to have insurance. My premium will go up by $42 per month in January, and, as many others have said, my coverage will go down. For the last several years, I have claimed between $2,000 and $3,000 in medical expenses on my income taxes. Please keep in mind, that is IN ADDITION to $6,000 per year I pay for health insurance. So I average paying $8,000 - $10,000 per year for medical. That does not include dental, disability or life insurance. All of that is additional. It has not mattered whether a republican or democrat has been in office, the cost has steadily increased. Again, I am not saying all of this to debate Obamacare. I just feel we need to realize and admit that the insurance industry has been messed up for years.
