Im not generally one to discuss such personal things on FB or for that matter, in real life either but I figured, being Veterans Day, this was as appropriate a time as any.. My father, a Marine (Korean War), passed away less than a month ago.. It was unexpected and sudden.. He will be missed by many but none more than my mother, as they had been together, literally, since high school.. aside from when he was in Korea, hardly a day had gone by that they were not together.. My dad, like myself, was the youngest of his family.. I was, as they say, not planned, and a bit younger than my brothers and sisters.. My uncle Jack, was also a Marine, he was in intelligence and in all seriousness, a Cold War era super spy, after WWII through the fall of the wall, he then supposedly retired, but finding out later, he actually went even deeper into black ops, all the while maintaining a seemingly very normal life with a family up until just before he also passed a few years ago.. upon realizing this, the level of dedication to me was astounding.. my father also did many things after leaving active duty, helping and giving of his time and money selflessly to active enlisted men and women and also other veterans.. something my father instilled in me from an early age was, if you are going to do something at all, do it right, and if you do start something then you better finish it.. I also learned pretty early in life that the most important things are friendship and loyalty, truth and honesty.. without them nothing is really worth anything.. I am grateful to my Father and Uncle and to anyone who has served in any capacity in the military, as for if not for them, we would not be able to be who we are today, sitting here discussing what is right, wrong or otherwise happening in the relative comfort we are so use to.. Happy Veterans Day
