Im not one to rant at all but after I was just called ignorant because my opinion didnt align with that of another I will further clarify. Instead of choosing to be politically correct I gave my honest opinion on the matter of immigration. Here is my response You have to take the emotional connection out of the disagreement before you comment on a subject @alcala916 .....I understand that there will be a difference of opinion on this topic one way or another, so to throw around the term ignorance would be inaccurate just because we have varying opinions on the subject matter. In actuality I am far from ignorant on the subject matter, and after living in San Antonio for four years and having come across many cases, I am more than apt to comment on the subject. While some immigrants (depending on their employment) do not pay state or federal taxes, there are most certainly some that do. However, while they do pay their federal taxes and social security as you mentioned....it is the state and local levels that are burdened with excess use of the added health benefits and welfare assistance. So while the federal government sees their share of the fiscal contribution , it is the state and local levels that are stuck with a bill. All I was trying to say earlier was that I am fully supportive of legal immigration, just not the illegal form. Yes I understand wanting to make a better life for a family and if I were in their situation I would honestly do the same. However, just because its for the good of a family or individual doesnt make it right. This is just my opinion though and you are more than entitled to form your own, I just think it unwise to throw around the word ignorance at others just because the subject matter has a personal feel to you. Ill leave you with this....whether you agree or disagree doesnt matter to me. As long as you have an opinion and are willing to stand by it, I admire that. Young people, remember that if you dont stand for anything then youll fall for everything.
