Im only just practicing my writing skills, but I like to imagine I have a sort of literary consciousness... Trying to illustrate an elaborate, sometimes convoluted, but ultimately growing and maturing psychology. With no context of the story itself, I think of the term scarlet letter. I sometimes imagine the Gods are actually authors simply trying to orchestrate an interesting story, which would explain to many how evil can exist. How could one read a story where there is no conflict? You would simply put it down and walk away.. ---------------------- Imaginary scenario... To listen to the tone of their voice, there was something synthetic, grey, logical, and all but devoid of emotion. Perhaps somewhere however deep in their heart there was a warm glow and love of innocence, but the manner was all by the book, only reasoning right from wrong as the course of action. It was subtly but deeply unsettling. Somehow however, you trusted they were right, that to listen to them was to listen to the word of reason. As it became me too, I wondered how to understand how to differentiate what I thought was supposed to be some deep rooted circuitry from some amassed conversation that had progressed to the point of thinking any number of ways that had once seemed foreign. It was all about becoming a deep operator in this existential web. Subliminal backdrop for a world at play, sometimes encouraging people not to dissect their thoughts too much, and others hastening them to change before it seemed critical. There were lucrative opportunities full of prestige. Somehow they trusted you could still appreciate it. Congregating in dark smoky jazz bars in times of prohibition. You get to know an unknowing girl and carry out an assignment. Sometimes the work seems so cold. Images in the mind of meaningful childhood experiences keep you grounded. You walk slowly toward the figure in the dark and reach into your coat and think... this too must be done.
