Im pleased to share this great one minute clip (with music) from our friends at Ohio Division of Wildlife .The northern harrier, once aptly named the marsh hawk, is seen over marshes in areas such as Rose Oaks and Independence Oaks County Parks and other wetland habitat in Oakland County, Michigan Government. A beautiful ground-nesting hawk, designated as a species of Special Concern by the Michigan DNR. Birding For Beginners: Northern Harrier Video taken 1/20/2015 in Central Ohio Once known as marsh hawk, Northern harriers are one of our more easily identified raptors. Harriers hunt by flying close to the ground and taking small animals by surprise. This hawk has long wings and a long tail. The male is mostly gray with black tipped wings and a white rump.
