Im pretty sure this wont be hitting the news since theyre all too busy talking about the Ukraine crisis. But basically whats going on is that students were holding a protest for a trade agreement between china and Taiwan, but now the Government is cracking down on it and beating protesters. Several deaths have been reported. Most of the posts of videos and news links are being taken down by the Taiwanese government. Ive only been able to learn about this from a friend of mine that lives there. Several of her friends were arrested, still not sure what happened to one of them. But it makes me sick thinking about how our country set up Taiwan as way to stick the middle finger to china, but now that the cold war is over we dont need Taiwan so weve pretty much ditched it. This is the same thing that happened in Yeoman, the Taliban and many many MANY other messes we made during the cold war that was left for the next generation to clean up. Screw the cold war, the backlashes of it suck so much
