Im proud of my sons today. D is a #Packer fan, C is a #Vikings fan. Last night, they tried to watch the game together. Im proud of D because he didnt gloat (too much) when the Pack jumped all over the Vikes early and often. Even when it was clear that we wouldnt finish watching the game, he was just fine. And we couldnt finish watching the game because C cannot wrap his huge heart for the Vikings around the concept of rebuilding. The second Packer touchdown touched off a 45 minute meltdown (this is NOT the part that I am proud of…so much) with tears, curses (not cursing…thankfully), calling down the wrath of God, questioning the belief in God, the existence of God, bemoaning the suckage that was the game, the history of the Vikings (I told him I lived through Les Steckel, hell live through this…I dont think he believed me), etc. What made me proud of C this morning was that he chose to wear his Vikings jersey to school, and we live in Wisconsin, so…there will likely be some ribbing that will happen. I love the fact that he wears his jersey, and thus his fandom, with pride. He owns it. He is a fan through the suckage, which is the best kind of fan to be.
