Im really sorry if you think the ALS challenge wastes water. Im sorry that I live in a country with a reasonably awesome infrastructure that allows me to be somewhat reckless with my water usage. Im sorry that parts of my country (Desert climates) are experiencing drought. Im sorry that other countries dont have that same infrastructure, and have sickness and death as a result. Im sorry that, as my wife said in her post about this, millions of Americans waste water every day, in far more quantities, and for far more trivial causes than bringing awareness to a horrible disease that is basically a death sentence to those diagnosed with it. I have yet to be challenged, but if I am, I will happily dump cold water on my head and forward the video and challenge others... (Once I have money to spare, I will donate.) Im sorry if you think Im wasting water ... but Im not... Im BUYING your attention with it. If all it costs a bucket of cold water, I call that a fair trade. Could we raise awareness without using the water? Of course. Would it be as effective? Dunno.. but seeing as ALS has been around for a long time and its NEVER gotten this much attention drawn to it, there might be some merit in this approach..... Meanwhile, maybe you could worry about something that ACTUALLY MATTERS? (War, Cancer, Education, Campaign Finance Reform, Racism, Corporate Greed, Congressional Term Limits... about a BILLION other issues more important than wasted water) Just a thought...
