Im sick of seeing peoples bigoted posts about Ferguson! This video is on point as it perfectly illustrates the centuries long structural discrimination in the US. Please dont give me this BS about how we are living in a post-racial era because we have a #Black president. The United States has been a racial state-if not an empire and will remain so until Whites get the stupid concept of colorblindness (as if a magic wand was waved and the effects of five centuries of murder, economic exploitation and racial privilege were wiped out and now theres reverse racism (HAHA))out of their systems. WHY? -FERGUSON (HELLLOOOO!?) - Cleveland police shooting a boy holding a toy gun -Black (even) CONGRESSMEN are still called names when on duty. (e.g. Congressman John Lewis was called a nigger by Tea Partiers as he walked to the Capitol to vote on health care reform in 2010 (45th Anniversary of the march from Selma to Montgomery) -Trump asked President Obama to release his birth certificate proving that he was not a Muslim (4+ times). -Renewal of the Patriot Act -Redlining in Housing -Glass Ceiling in jobs -Prison Industrial Complex - disproportionate incarceration of black males! -Unequal access to quality education (due to redlining) -Disproportionate policing (stop and search stats) of black males (e.g. Ferguson (ago.mo.gov/VehicleStops/2013/reports/161.pdf) & New York) Race and racism are ever more prominent in our political culture BUT they OPERATE DIFFERENTLY than in the last half of the 20th century- which is the frame through which mainstream culture encourages us to analyze it (i.e. White Racial Frame) Affirmative Action?
