Im sitting out on the driveway with my teens talking with them about how to guard off a depleted soul (they are packing today to go to HSLT/DTC ). We want our kids to be able to recognize how God uniquely made them. Part of that is for them to grow in self-awareness. We want them to understand themselves and their own tendencies (i.e. how they tend to respond in certain situations, what tends to weaken their faith, what makes their soul unsettled and restless). Each of my kids has a soul that is deep waters. I must remember that! The more I remember that, the more my mothering is in tune to His Spirit in my home! Some potent verses that I, as a mother, am meditating on today: *Proverbs 20:5 The purposes of a mans heart are deep waters, but a man of understanding draws them out. *Psalm 131:2 But I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with its mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me. *Proverbs 19:8 He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; he who cherishes understanding prospers. *Proverbs 22:5 n the paths of the wicked lie thorns and snares, but he who guards his soul stays far from them.
