Im slowly becoming convinced that the #1 reason that people leave the church isnt because of theology or teachings, its because of Christians. A lot of times Sunday morning services are great. Wednesday nights lessons are fantastic and community group subjects are thought provoking and helpful but there is NO fellowship for folks who dont fit in to the cliques, so eventually we come to a point where we are forced to decide. A) find a new church. B) stop going all together. Then I hear church leaders say things like its your responsibility to find a way to fit in but if were really a FAMILY of believers should we ever feel like outcasts? Its a frustrating position to be in. Ive been there and am so blessed to be beyond it. I just wish there was a way to stop it from happening to other folks around me. Its been heavy on my heart for awhile. Im praying that The Lord will show me different ways to be inviting and accepting to folks.
