Im so South LA, I remember me and my best friend Dwayne going DNTN to the movies, we met these girls, after the flicks (thats right, plural...we had it like that), we rode the number 1 bus with them, to a place called Aliso Village, where my mother had friends. We walked the girls over to some units next to a patio, across the way from a play ground with monkey bars; that just so happens to be covered with Aliso muggs smoking bud. Me and Dwayne walk down the street where my mom was visiting her friends, I asked her for some money for something, I forget what; then turn to leave to go to the bus stop. As we got back to Kearney St, those same dudes had just left from the monkey bars, and was walking towards us...yelling Hey, what set you from...? Then somebody else said, yall dont come over here after our girls, dont yall got girls where yall live...? Me and Dwayne looked at each other then looked at the 8 or 9 dudes picking up cadence towards us, Hey MFs Im talkin to you... We looked at each other again... It became a running scene from Warriors... We ran as they pursued, towards 1st street,,,just as we hit the corner, the bus had just dropped off, as we leaped on the it. Just then you could hear the busting of bottles on the bus, we told the driver, while he was starting to look at where this was coming from, Drive! Drive! He started driving before the door closed as they were bombing the bus up with bottles and rocks, cracking windows...then we went to the back glass (yes, back glass), and looked at them running after the bus throwing more stuff...I mean they did not like the idea that outsiders was talking to their girls. But ironically, a few years later, I wound up married with children, with an Aliso native, and became friends and family with those same knuckleheads that chased me and Dwayne that night. See how fate works. But Ill tell you this...I never felt so safe no where Ive lived, as I did in Aliso Village...erbody knew erbody (and erbody bidness too), and if a strange booty came in those projects, erbody knew it.
