Im so damned tired of hearing this phrase: the actions of the officer were within the policies of the Police Department. The policies need to change. The policies are tacit permission for thugs with a badge to terrorize, brutalize, and/or murder people, either for what amounts to misdemeanors (the Landau case below), or completely innocent of ANY crime. Then they sit on their asses at home, on PAID LEAVE until their department clears them of any wrongdoing, by being within the policies of the Police Department. abcnews.go/US/story?id=95475 - Police admitted their mistake, saying faulty information from a drug informant contributed to the death of John Adams Wednesday night. They intended to raid the home next door. The two officers, 25-year-old Kyle Shedran and 24-year-old Greg Day, were placed on administrative leave with pay. cnn/2014/02/26/justice/oklahoma-arrest-death-video/ - Rodriguez can be heard demanding to know why they pinned down her husband to which officers replied, “He refused to give his ID.” Police say their actions were protocol, though three have been suspended with pay while the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation continues to investigate. foxnews/us/2012/08/25/nypd-shooting-bystander-victims-hit-by-police-gunfire/ - Police shoot NINE bystanders trying to bring down an armed man...granted, he killed a coworker and was armed with a KNIFE, but the cops shot NINE PEOPLE in bringing him down. They were lauded for following procedure. I guess they were justified shooting NINE PEOPLE for fear of their lives and his knife, which he probably could have thrown with great accuracy and force, thus threatening their lives.
