Im still trying to figure out how The North Island is Te Ika A - TopicsExpress

Im still trying to figure out how The North Island is Te Ika A Maui and how this collaborates with the creation story of Papatuanuku and Ranginui Tane and his brothers and our understanding natures progeny as having everything to do with our connection and continual reference to particular iconography such as Tane, Tangaroa, Tawhirimatea, Rongomatane, Tangaroa, Tumatauenga and ultimately Tama nui te ra (Sun God). Interestingly enough, if you enter any Cyfs department around the country you will be surprised to see Maui slowing down the Sun with his brothers, only how he does this you would think conflicts with the purpose of Cyfs itself? .. i am not sure about all however the few i have frequented have provided this irony. fresh in my mind insighted by discussion i have to share my query as to then what part of the world then becomes Papatuanuku if foundationally what is significant to where we tell these stories? or are we of the consensus that we are reciting these powerful legends from a Fish that Maui caught yet the rest of the earth is Papatuanuku? ... am i missing something? i have always considered the majesty below my feet as Papatuanuku it really changes the whole concept of traditionally understanding that for this very reason we extend love and forgiveness to our elders remembering that with this timeless traditional concept we are always bound to our duties as mothers and fathers and sons and daughters as well as the whenua i always knew to be Papatuanuku.... always accentuating the diverse and indescribable diversity of Wahine Maori. in strength, spirit, tenacity and spirituality. Time will make sense of what has me sitting on the fence.
