Im sure the thought can not be original, but I saw a clip recently where school children were being drilled to drop and hide under their desks in case of alarm. I can clearly remember the message from when I was maybe in the first or second grade that it was just a precaution. I could not resist the temptation to look up and out the window to see the day exploding like the sun had crashed into us, wondering how long Id have to endure the heat waves. These days the threat is more of a homegrown nature, crazy people with guns... I wonder what the kids who are peeking out are thinking. Things change some, but not so much. We have failed it seems. I should mention that when measured by conventional means my life has been a series of failures; business, relationships, projects and schemes. It is odd, I am finding that failure does not equate with unhappiness. Im much older now, I m not going to duck under my desk in impotent preparation, Im going to run out into it. Or like Dylan said, Theres no success like failure and failure is no success at all.
