Im thinking through the options for receiving phone calls at my - TopicsExpress

Im thinking through the options for receiving phone calls at my existing phone number while traveling internationally. I want to maximize the convenience and minimize the cost. So far, it seems like the only real approach is to add international calling to my existing contract (or get a new contract with another provider that has international calling). I was hoping to find a cheaper way. For instance, I could convert my number to Google Voice, and then get a local SIM in each country I visit, and set Google Voice to forward calls to my US number to whatever the current non-US number is. But Google doesnt allow you to forward internationally, even for a price. So I looked into Skype, and they do allow you to forward internationally (for a few cents a minute) but they dont seem to have a program where you can convert your existing number to be handled by them. So does anyone have suggestions I havent considered? Michelle? Carlin? Susan? Rowan? Sybil?
