Im totally against Government involvement in matters of the Royal family. I am also completely against the President having the prerogative of deciding anything when it comes to traditional authority. This will set a precedent and has a great potential to deepen ethnic divisions and subtle tensions. I do believe that the Abathembu Royal House has the necessary abilities to resolve their own problems. The ANC was founded on the basis of the unity of the four fundamental pillars, which is; Traditional Leaders, Religious Leaders, Intellectual & Academic leaders and the unity above ethnic division. It would be disingenuous to think that the removal of the Abathembu King by a Zulu President will not have far reaching consequences beyond the term of this administration. This I say knowing full well how disrespectful the Abathembu King is, however we must be objective. Yes it is reported that members of the Abathembu Royal House were the ones that approached the Presidency, which I do not dispute, it is the manner in which the Presidency responds to it that I believe needs better strategic thinking. Kodwa ke asazi soyicela ivuthiwe!
