Im very proud of my many friends on FB, Ive been able to express my point of view and share myself, and Ive been able to listen to other peoples points of view, and even disagree sometimes, and somehow, each maintain respect for each other. Are we our brothers keeper? What does that mean? Am I responsible for everything some one else says? Is it my duty to correct people and protect them? If our happiness is dependent on someone elses happiness, we dont have control over our own destiny. We need a self referential framework of happiness. This is true for me in my role as a mom, and it would seem appropriate for Wall Street too. But, we are also connected. I cannot be ignorant of the people around me. In fact, seeing other people in misery causes me a lot of pain. Maybe thats why the wealthy dont like to see it. I think the model that I need to ascribe to is to work for a system that lets each person drive their own future. We need an economic system that offers everyone enough jobs that each of us can support ourselves with dignity.... a place to sleep, healthy food, clothing, health care. And, an opportunity for education. A system where each person is able to care for themselves. We each walk our own paths, it is not for me to judge another person on their path. They are not here for my happiness. I can only account for myself. However, I can find great happiness in sharing my life with other people, and by contributing to the community.
