Im very rarely at my computer and its been awhile since Ive made a post. This one is geared toward my ladies. Id say let my thumbs do the talking but they are more like screaming at me right now...6 years of practice and my hands have never given out on me. Just a reminder of how busy Ive been with my ladies lately and the forever emotional beings we all are...we are going to talk about STRESS...and the effects that stress has on the body. Stress is the bodys reaction to harmful situations -- whether they’re real or perceived. When you feel threatened, a chemical reaction occurs in your body that allows you to act in a way to prevent injury. This reaction is known as fight-or-flight,” or the stress response. During stress response, your heart begins to race, breathing quickens and becomes shallow, muscles tighten, and blood pressure rises, and your nervous system becomes over active. You’ve gotten ready to act. Its how the body unknowingly protects itself. When this happens the body is now ready for crisis... and there is nothing breaking through these barriers. The body doesnt discriminate against pain, whether it be emotional, psycological or physical...so no matter what kind of pain you are experiencing the body will tighten up and wrap you like a little cocoon. LITERALLY, the body has this amazing ability to shrink wrap itself. So women being the emotional, and psycological humans we are...always carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders, worrying, stressing, running here, running there, taking care of EVERYONE and ALWAYS putting ourselves last, we tend to forget about our own well being, and we stop paying attention to our stress or pain signals. Ever skinned a chicken? That slimy substance between the skin and meat, thats connective tissue. We all have that, and very chemically and hormonally engaged. Hense the chemical release process. Theres not one place it begins or one place where it ends. It surrounds every nerve, artery, muscle, bone, organ, between every facsial layer. It keeps the body a nice tight little unit, BUT when stressed that connective tissue sucks the body in sooooo tight, like I just explained, its hard to break through. When Im working on an emotionally stressed woman, I feel like I need to get out my jack hammer, the body becomes hard as lead! What happens when all these things occur: Shallow breathing = restriction in the ribcage=hyper intercostals=hunch back* Muscle tension=raised and slouching shoulders=referred pain=headaches, poor posture, poor circulation & innervation=numbness & tingling & cold limbs* Poor organ function=bad digestion, Arrhythmia* Lethargic=poor sleeping habits=loss of energy (takes alot of energy to keep the body in crisis)=poor eating habits=slows metabolism* See where Im getting...so I have to tell you, this past 3 weeks Ive had every grief stricken, sad, mad, stressed, over worked, under paid woman in my room! And WOW, as much as I love to have them and do love them dearly, Im big on educating on PREVENTION. Anyone whos been in my room knows that. I want you to know what is going on in your body, right down to the physiological level. At least to make it a bit easier on my poor thumbs, and put a smile on your faces ;) What can you do to lower your stress? 1. BREATHE!!! Take those cleansing breaths, big one iiiinnn, big one ooooutttt.....all the way, dont fill your lungs and only let it out half way, which is what you ladies do when your stressed, feel your diaphram, let it alllll out. 2. DROP YOUR SHOULDERS!!! Nice and low, nice and relaxed shoulders, be aware of how you are holding yourself. Dont pull them back or down, just drop them, and your elbows too. Sit with that and really feel what thats like. Youll be surprised how far down they go, and you wont be wearing your shoulders as earings anymore. And those headaches will go away. Keep doing it so it becomes repetitive. 3. WATER!!! Stay hydrated. The last think you need is all the nasty chemical gunk to stay stagnant in your system, leaving you feel sluggish. Flush it out. 4. GET OUT OF YOUR HEAD!!! Your mind thinks it has to control everything, but it forgets to be present in your body. If you are not present in your body, you are only causing yourself harm. Pay attention to your signals, youre body will always tell you what it needs. Make it a habit to clear your mind and LISTEN! 5. DONT SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF!!! A very wise woman once told me this years upon years ago. Goes hand in hand with getting out of your head. If you cant change it, stop it, fix it or buy it. Drop it on the floor and walk away. 6. DONT STOP doing what makes you happy!!! You are an Eternal being made in the eyes of our creator. We are meant to be on this earth to be HAPPY. DO IT. You dont have to do it well, just do it cause you love it. 7. HOT BATHS, EPSOM SALTS, AROMA THERAPY, MUSIC. Helps to lower stress levels, flush & circulate. I hate to see my ladies suffering, and you can do alot to help yourselves. I can only do so much on my end, but until your mind allows you to let go, it will only go so far. Its all about letting go...no matter what you do to achieve that. You are important
