Im working on an upcoming project and would like a little guidance from the group: Shooting formal portraits of my Boy Scout Troop. I have a backdrop and well use the US flag and Troop flag as side design elements. I have a Nikon D90 and will probably use the 70-300 zoom but only zoomed to 150 or 200 Im guessing. So my questions are geometry and lighting. What is a good ratio for spacing from focal plane to subject to backdrop? How can I inexpensively light it using the Commander feature, and should I get a light box or parasol or just borrow a flash and bounce it off the ceiling? Okay guidance welcome...
