Im working on something for the next issue of ATCC and need help and comments. What is the threshold where patina stops and neglect begins? It seems that every day we see another car pulled out of a barn or or garage, headed to auction. In almost every case the description of the car talks about its originality and its patina. When a near priceless Mercedes-Benz Gullwing is abandoned and left to rot, the resulting damage is not patina to my minds eye, its neglect. How do the rest of you feel about this phenomenon? Am I trying to make a mountain out of a molehill, or do you agree with me? This car sold almost immediately after having been listed for almost $1,000,000.
