Images of my Dolls of the Week are those I’ve found during my online search. They have been a portion of the muse that helped to create certain passages in ‘Her Gifts’. Below are two such dolls and the passage they helped to inspire. The flick of a switch brought a menagerie of dolls in a variety of hues into view. “Hello my people,” I called out knowing I won’t receive an answer. When I was younger, I convinced myself that they would answer. I did because back then, I needed sisters I didn’t have to leave next door…As I grew, so did my need to be surrounded by surrogate siblings…Across the room is Fyre, a sandy-haired doll reminiscent of me. Beside her sits her flaming red-headed counterpart, Desyre, a prototype of my alter-ego. These two came into being as a result of needing to work off stress the night me and Brian came close to crossing the line.
