Imagine if we had our own successful business community. Schools, Hospitals, Airports, waterfront docks, department and furniture stores, restaurants and night clubs-everything ! The powers that be would be coming to our spots because they understand that we know how to do it big time in whatever we do ! But some body has to be the consumer and its just happens to be us ! Thats alright though, cause, hopefully well start opening businesses. On the PBS television series Many Rivers To Cross, Henry Louis Gates mentions the business success of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Gates only speaks of the 1905 boom and its demise. But, in actuality, the Blacks rebuilt some 15-20 years later with even more success and the powers that be burned down the town again. So the brothers rebuilt a third time and guess what the powers that be (Christian Americans) did ? No, they didnt burn it down ! A few years after the Korean Conflict the federal government decided to spend Billions on highway infrastructure called the freeway system we know today ! You see, to burn Tulsas Greenwood, Archer, and Pine ( Yes, The GAP Bands name) section for a third time would just be to obvious, so they used a law called eminent domain and put a freeway right through the Black community to thwart the economic success of the community. The time was the mid-fifties and Christian-Americans wanted and needed that Black dollar that circulated a whopping twenty-six times before the powers that be could get it ! So, in closing, be strong cause our freedom will come soon !
