Imagine that all remaining Native Americans were corralled into a reservation in a corner of Nevada for 60 years, under military rule, with no citizenship, rights, freedom to move (even in the reservation), limited access to education, healthcare, water, electricity…you get the picture. Some of them become extremists, some are moderates renouncing violence and seeking negotiations, most are civilians. Could you support it (even silently) if your government was bombarding one half of the reservation, while demolishing homes and taking land in the other half. Or would you feel compelled to say “Not in my name, not with my tax dollars”.) Hamas is a convenient distraction for Israel. The real focus should be on Israel’s actions in the West Bank.
