Imagine this. Youve filmed some songs during a show and uploaded them to your own YouTube channel. Then the webmaster of the artist youve filmed contacts you, tells you how great those videos are and asks you to also upload those videos to the artists YouTube channel. Even gives you the logincodes to that channel to do that. As a fan youre flattered and of course youll also upload those videos to the artists channel. And so it happens. Then over four years later WMG (Warner Music Group that is) has YouTube block the videos on your own channel claiming the copyright of the videos that you have later uploaded to the artists channel has been breached. You object to this and explain what happened (see above) and no, they are your videos that have also been uploaded to the artists channel and not the other way around. Then YouTube tells you WMG has decided their claim is just. YouTube mentions that the possible reasons are either that WMG just doesnt agree or the reasons for the objections are not enough or irrelevant. So.... the videos on your own channel have been blocked and there is nothing you can do about it. Then WMG has YouTube actually remove one of those videos from you channel. Which means you are now locked out of you own account, unless you acknowledge and admit to the validity of the claim. Which of course you dont. Oh and after three such removals your whole channel will be deleted. There have been thirteen (!) of your videos that have been uploaded to the artists channel, so do the math if they start removing all of those. Now this is whats happening to my channel at the moment. Fortunately it is (for now) still up and running, but I cant access it. Of course I have also objected to the removal of the video and have included the correspondence (email) I had with the webmaster of the artist. All I can do right now is wait. This whole thing is making me really sad and really angry at the same time. Thank you Warner Music Group for seriously undermining my trust in the world of music and making your artists actually look bad because of this. youtube/user/RamonaNL
