Immanuel (God with us) Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Php 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Php 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: Php 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: There is a story about a man that was sitting in his house on a cold winters eve when suddenly he heard a loud thump on his window. When he went to check for the source of the noise to his dismay he saw a beautiful small bird lying on the ground outside with it’s neck broken, supposedly from the impact with the window. The old gentleman surmised that the bird had attempted to get in out of the weather but did not realize the window was actually a solid barrier. The bird’s effort to save itself had actually led to its demise. After contemplating the situation for a few moments the old gentleman thought to himself sadly, “ If I could have spoken that bird’s language I might have been able to warn it and perhaps I could have even saved its life.” The verses above tell us that this is exactly what God did for us. The Creator of the universe came to earth as a babe in a manger and dwelled as a man on the earth for over thirty years so that mankind, through his effort could be saved. He would actually serve as the example we could base our lifestyles on and then offer himself as a sacrifice to make us “fit” to be part of his kingdom. Jesus Christ, in a manner of speaking, was the window opened to allow us to come in out of the cold. Prayer: Oh Lord, I thank you today that you have made the way for us to become the sons and daughters of God that you created us to be. Help me to see myself through your eyes and provide the opportunity to represent you to others in a manner that will glorify you. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen May the reality of what God has done in our behalf grasp your soul and meld your mind into one with his. Dr. John
