Important: please read and share, Fake IRS call, phone number 209 210 3534. I received a phone call from the above number; it was from Steve Daniel, IRS officer who caught my “tax returns fraud”. Basically I did fraud in my tax returns and didn’t respond to IRS’s notices and I owe 3500 and odd dollars. He provided his office address, federal ID number and also his contact number pretty fluent and formidable info. Finally he gave me two options. Pay the entire money now or arrested by police, and face prosecution and all my assets will be frozen. I have an hour to decide else a police e officer will be at my door step and I will be in jail. Believe me the guy was firm, has an attitude and can be a decent actor. So honestly I panicked for a minute but after listening to Steve for 5 to 10 mins his original Indian accent is been exposed (he was faking it pretty well to be Steve though) and then I figured what’s going on and gave him a middle finger. I later called my accountant to make sure and she has nothing but to laugh and said I am not the first and actually I am lucky enough to escape without paying anything. Yes I was smart and lucky but it did cost me half hour of a Friday morning and few minutes of panic. Somebody else can avoid this, PLEASE SHARE IF YOU CAN. Remember phone number may wary and also the “case” might be represented differently to you. IRS is suggesting new immigrants are their common target. Later I did some research and found I was really lucky because this is the biggest IRS scam till date and people have lost close to a million dollars to this scam.
