In 1935 my mom (age 25 at the time) lived in Nebraska. Her family bought Illinois peaches and inside one bushel was the name and address of the growers daughter. Mom corresponded with her and, in 1936, Mom rode a bus from Lincoln, NE to Centralia, IL. She visited the peach growers family for about 6 weeks. While there she bought some post cards with various IL city pictures. One of them was this picture of Krape Park. Little did she know at the time that within 5 years she would live about 15 miles from that park. In 1936 she knew no one in northern IL. In about 1938 some of Moms NE relatives (the Dick Cornelius family) moved to German Valley. In Dec.1940 Mom rode the train to visit those relatives, met my dad while in German Valley and never went back to NE (except for visits). Isnt it fun to watch how life dovetails..and sometimes fishtails? Just one small change would have altered so many lives....especially mine!
