In 1959, B.B. King made three unique sessions with the bands of Duke Ellington, Tommy Dorsey, and Count Basie. Hed already recorded Maxwell Daviss arrangement of Everyday I Have the Blues in 1955, and it remained his concert opener for many years, but when he made it with Basie he sang the arrangement used by Joe Williams from Basie Swings/Williams Swings. Today is B.B.s 89th birthday. Well hear him in tonights Jazz a la Mode.
