In 1979 I started racing bicycles for the Century Road Club in Central Park and continued riding for the next 15 years. My passion for all things cycling included keeping up with all the big European races especially the Tour de France and that continues to this day. Last year I became a fan of the French team Europcar because of its diversity, something that I felt was missing on the professional level of cycling. Today my fanship was rewarded as I watched a young black Frenchman, Kevin Reza along with his Japanese teammate, Yakiya Arishiro work together in a six man break for almost the entire race. When Reza and Alexey Lutsenko continued on after Arishiro and Thomas De Gendt dropped back to the field. Reza continued until the final approach to the finish before getting reeled in and Lutsenko a short time after. The sport that I love has finally grown up!
