In 1999, when Pakistani soldiers captured Kargil hills, Indian Army asked USA to provide GPS data of the region. US was the only country which had GPS information at that time. And US showed us the middle finger and didnt release GPS data. We couldnt get GPS data and we actually had to play guess games. This prompted Indian Government to create its own GPS system, which is being built at a cost of 1400 crore. By 2015, it would be fully functional. defencenews.in/defence-news-internal.aspx?id=3vfvyJ2/5Ls=
